To detect the most common reasons of undiagnosed of GDM during pregnancy using of pregnant women’s exchange cards and childbirth histories.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

We performed a statistical analysis of the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus in the Tyumen region, an expert analysis of retrospectively diagnosed GDM cases based on the signs of diabetic fetopathy and on the pathamorphologic data conclusion of antenatal fetal death due to provoked anatomical changes by diabetes mellitus. The material of analysis was childbirth histories and pregnant women’s exchange cards who registered at the antenatal care clinics and who gave birth to the children with signs of diabetic fetopathy during seven years (2013—2019). The basis of study was «Perinatal Center», Tyumen, Russia; the head physician was I.I. Kukarskaya.

CONCLUSION

Analyzing the documentation of pregnancy and childbirth, we distinguished four main reasons of untimely diagnosed of GDM: 1) Underestimation of pregestational risk factors. 2) Ignoring the physical examination methods of pregnant women, whose indices were significantly higher of required ones according to the certain period of pregnancy. 3) Ignoring the fetometry data during the third fetal ultrasound screening. 4) The absence of using standard diagnostic methods of GDM in obedience to the order of Ministry of Health of Russian Federation.
