Abstract:

General issues of diagnosis and treatment of headache in pregnancy are reviewed. Headache prior to pregnancy is a significant predictor of headache during and after pregnancy. Course of headache during pregnancy is affected by a large number of factors such as the high level of estrogens, depression, insomnia, and estrogens’ effects on platelets and thrombosis. Diagnostic and treatment approaches to primary headache, headache in intracranial hypertension, preeclampsia and eclampsia, benign angiopathy of the central nervous system are considered.
