Abstract:

Postoperative complications after cataract extraction with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in infants aged 1-12 months were studied. 97 children (138 eyes) were examined and cataract was extracted with IOL implantation. The most severe complications were observed in children with persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous syndrome, that requires development of methods and indications for surgery. Results of cataract surgery in infants depend on operator's experience in pediatric cavity surgery.
