Maximum early and accurate ultrasound diagnosis of placental ingrowth into the area of the postoperative uterine scar is the key to timely routing of pregnant women to medical institutions with trained multidisciplinary teams, whose participation in delivery provides a significant reduction in the incidence of organ-amputating surgeries, intra- and postoperative complications. However, despite numerous publications describing echographic signs of abnormal placental invasion, in russian and international practice the efficiency of detection of this threatening complication at all stages of prenatal screening remains low, which necessitates the introduction of comprehensive systemic solutions to this problem. The review presents the main modern directions for achieving maximum accuracy in the prenatal diagnosis of placental ingrowth, based on the russian clinical guidelines “Pathologic Placenta Attachment (Placenta previa and ingrowth)” and the results of the international consensus survey of the world’s leading specialists, conducted according to the Delphi system in 2023. The review presents clear criteria for the formation of high-risk groups who need in-depth ultrasound examination; presents the regulated in our country ultrasound examination of placental ingrowth; and presents the results of the international consensus survey of the world’s leading specialists.
