According to WHO, about 830 women die in the world every day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth; in 27% of the cases the cause is postpartum hemorrhage. Currently, as a means of stopping hypotonic postpartum hemorrhage, various compression stitches are applied to the uterus. Unfortunately, however, there is no reliable generalized data in the literature on the frequency and nature of complications in the late postpartum period after the placement of multiple compression stitches in the uterus, as well as when they are combined with ligation of the great vessels. This article describes clinical observations of 2 puerperas who underwent premature operative labor (cesarean section in the lower uterine segment at 32 and 30 weeks of gestation), complicated by hypotonic bleeding with the placement of compression stitches in the uterus, and ligation of the uterine vessels and the internal iliac artery. In the late postpartum period, on the 26th and 34th day after cesarean section, severe purulent-necrotic complications developed that required the extirpation of the uterus and other interventions. It should be noted that complex hemostatic measures performed at the same time eliminated uterine blood supply sources, which led to acute ischemia and the subsequent necrosis of the endo- and myometrium. The feasibility of the simultaneous use of all hemostatic techniques is questionable.
