Abstract:

Objective - to analyze the effects of micronized progesterone and dydrogesterone on the growth of myomatous nodules during pregnancy in patients with uterine myoma who have delivered via cesarean section with single-stage myomectomy. Subject and methods. The results of examinations of 115 pregnant women with uterine myoma who had delivered via cesarean section with single-stage myomectomy were given. Group 1 included 32 patients with uterine myoma who had pregnancy accompanied with threatened miscarriage in different periods and received therapy with micronized progesterone and dydrogesterone; Group 2 comprised 15 women with uterine myoma, whose pregnancy resulted from in vitro fertilization; Group 3 consisted of 68 pregnant women with uterine myoma who took no drugs. The size, number, and site of myomatous nodules were determined. Myomatous nodule biopsy specimens were immunohistochemically analyzed and the proliferative activity of tumor cells was determined. Results. The sizes of myomatous nodules removed in the women taking micronized progesterone and dydrogesterone during pregnancy were found to be statistically significantly similar to those in the comparison group women. Conclusion. There is evidence that it is expedient to use micronized progesterone and dydrogesterone for the treatment of pregnant women with uterine myoma when the signs of threated miscarriage appear.
