Abstract:

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is of widespread occurrence throughout the world; over 90% of people are infected with this virus. The infection process induced by EBV is characterized by a variety of clinical forms and by a great quantity of its transmission routes. The mechanisms for the immunopathogenesis of EBV-induced infection remain not fully studied. The management of pregnant women with the infection merits special attention. This infection may be caused by different abnormalities and has a high share in the structure of intrauterine infections. Algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of this infection have not been fully elaborated; the problems in EBV-associated pregnancy management remain unclear.
