Abstract:

To examine the feasibilities of color Doppler mapping (CDM) and 3D/4D echography in combination with up-to-date software of ultrasound devices, the author conducted 128 and 21 studies of the fetal brain in normal pregnancy and central nervous system (CNS) malformations, respectively. This technique could objectively visualize most cerebral vessels, showing normal CNS development. It could successfully identify a nosological entity of brain lesion (in 95.2% of cases) and objectively yield visual information for further verification when space-occupying lesions were present in the fetal skull or malformations suspected. The technology of 3D/4D CDM is recommended for use as an informative component of ultrasonography of the fetal brain in cases of its abnormal development.
