Abstract:

Rhinoscleroma (RS) is a chronic granulomatous infection of the nose and upper respiratory tract, which is caused by the gram-negative bacillus Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis, the disease is endemic in many regions of the world, but rarely occurs in Russia. The paper describes a clinical case of RS in a 27-year-old female patient with a 3-year history of dysphonia, breathing difficulty, and recurrent nosebleed. The diagnosis of RS is verified by histological and bacteriological examinations of the samples taken by brush biopsy of the nasal and pharyngeal mucosae.
