Targeted prevention tools after pneumonia and COVID-19 in outpatient settings include comprehensive medical evaluations and medical rehabilitation. An integrated indicator of the effectiveness of preventive activities is the level of population satisfaction with medical care.
OBJECTIVE
To assess the effectiveness of the implementation of the organizational model of comprehensive medical evaluations and rehabilitation as a tool for targeted prevention of pneumonia in outpatient settings by assessment the level of patient satisfaction with medical care.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The study included patients with a history of pneumonia, including those associated with COVID-19, who underwent comprehensive medical check-ups and rehabilitation at an outpatient clinic in St. Petersburg. Questionnaires to assess respondents’ level of satisfaction with medical care used before the integration of the organizational model and during the year of its implementation. The target study group included patients with limited mobility, for whom a personal route was developed, focused on preventive measures at home.
RESULTS
During the development of the organizational model, the baseline level of patient satisfaction with the medical care for prevention after pneumonia, including COVID-19-associated pneumonia, in an outpatient clinic was studied. The study included 150 patients. It was found that 70.0% of respondents were satisfied with comprehensive medical evaluations, and 77.0% were satisfied with medical rehabilitation. Based on the data obtained, an organizational model has been developed and implemented, including an integrated approach to targeted pneumonia prevention. The effectiveness of its implementation was confirmed by patients (1.180 people were surveyed): increases in satisfaction with comprehensive medical evaluations and medical rehabilitation in the adult population without mobility restrictions were 100.0% and 94.4%, respectively, and 100.0% in subjects with limited mobility.
CONCLUSION
The organizational model of comprehensive medical evaluations and rehabilitation as a targeted prevention tool for pneumonia in outpatient settings was effective and can be considered when developing a preventive strategy in other regions of the Russian Federation.
