Today, patients place special emphasis on the aesthetic component of dental treatment. Modern patients are well-informed about the possibilities of aesthetic dentistry and strive to receive high-tech treatment. However, even high-quality artistic dental restorations do not always meet patients’ requirements and expectations, thus disappointing them. To maximize patient satisfaction, a dentist must not only master modern treatment techniques but also take into account the patient’s wishes and motivation for aesthetic smile zone correction.
OBJECTIVE
Study the number and structure of complaints from patients dissatisfied with the results of aesthetic treatment. To evaluate the quality of restorations according to the FDI criteria using additional equipment.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
A sociological study was conducted to assess the opinions of 1000 patients regarding their satisfaction with the results of aesthetic dental restorations. As a result, we identified a group of patients who were dissatisfied with the quality of treatment. In order to objectify the complaints of this group of patients, we conducted clinical and instrumental examinations according to FDI criteria.
RESULTS
According to our research, a fairly large number of patients complain about poorly performed aesthetic treatment. In this situation, the dentist must comprehensively assess the quality of aesthetic restoration. In most cases, patients’ complaints are objective and correction of treatment results is necessary. However, there is a category of patients who are inclined to make unfounded complaints about the results of aesthetic treatment against the background of high-quality work performed by a dentist. It should be borne in mind that carrying out corrective measures to increase the satisfaction of such patients with the results of treatment will not lead to the desired result, and the reasons for dissatisfaction of such patients have nothing to do with the quality of the treatment.
