The hepatitis C virus (HCV), being one of the leading causes of liver disease, significantly affects female reproductive function. This article examines the mechanisms by which HCV impacts fertility, reduces ovarian reserve, and alters the regulation of sex hormones associated with liver function. The article also discusses the specific characteristics of pregnancy and childbirth in women with chronic hepatitis C, including the increased likelihood of developing cholestasis, gestational diabetes, premature labor, mother-to-child transmission of the virus, and adverse perinatal outcomes. In analyzing current approaches to managing HCV patients, it is important to highlight the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary approach, the implementation of screening programs, the optimization of patient management pathways, and the coordination of efforts between infectious disease specialists, obstetricians-gynecologists, and neonatologists, as well as the provision of high-quality medical care aimed at minimizing the risks posed by hepatitis C virus to female reproductive function.
