The paper presents major trends in the treatment of patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Special attention is paid to the current possibilities of radiation therapy and its combination with drug therapy (chemotherapy, targeted therapy). The paper also deals with the issues of an individual approach to choosing the policy of treatment based on the predictors of its efficiency. Preserving the quality of life in patients is considered to be one of the main tasks and adequate accompanying therapy is deemed to be a mandatory condition for the success of anticancer treatment and rehabilitation of patients.
