OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the treatment method of mild and moderate severity acne disease (AD) shortened in terms of time with small or medium doses of isotretinoin in combination with external agents containing a component of a mineral source.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

It was observed patients with mild or moderate severity AD (26 patients) and rosacea (5 people) using isotretinoin in small (10—20 mg/day) or medium (30—40 mg/ day) doses, as well as external products containing a mineral source component.

RESULTS

The result with a 5-point scale was good in 92% of patients, excellent in 4% and satisfactory in 4% of AD patients after 1 (in the majority) — 2 months of treatment. The frequency of head shampooing a week after treatment for a month decreased by 3 times in 23%, by 2 times in 46% and 1 time in 5% of patients. The results of patients’ treatment with rosacea also proved to be effective.

CONCLUSION

It was found the treatment of mild and moderate forms of acne by a shortened method with small and medium doses of isotretinoin in combination with external agents containing components of a mineral source turned out to be effective and much cheaper than commonly used scheme with a course dose of 120—150 mg/kg body weight.
