Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

To assess the role of acute kidney injury (AKI) in the treatment of patients with acute lower limb ischemia (ALLI).

MATERIAL AND METHODS

We assessed 122 patients with ALLI grade II between 2016 and 2018 (mean age 72.7±14.6 years). Treatment outcomes were analyzed depending on baseline AKI in patients with ALLI.

RESULTS

The most common complications in patients with baseline AKI were respiratory (35.3%), cardiovascular (29.4%) and neurological dysfunction (23.5%). Mortality rates in patients with AKI were more than 4 times higher compared to those without kidney diseases.

CONCLUSION

AKI in patients with ALLI significantly influences the need for postoperative intensive care and increases postoperative morbidity and mortality.
