Abstract:

The authors present successful cryoballoon ablation for pulmonary vein isolation in a patient with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy following persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). Effective cryoballoon ablation was preceded by a «therapeutic window» including optimal cardiac therapy. The authors discuss the role of combined treatment approach for tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy with reduced ejection fraction. This clinical example compellingly demonstrates the feasibility and safety of catheter ablation in the treatment of AF with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction. This method leads to improvement of left ventricular systolic function and quality of life.
