The objective of the present paper was to describe a cohort of the patients referred to clinical class C1 and included in the database of the prospective observational study SPECTRUM. Analysis of a group of patients (n=191) presenting with isolated teleangiectasias and/or reticular varicosis. Their comparison with the patients of other clinical classes (C2-C6). The women constituted the overwhelming majority of the study cohort (n=186 or 97.4%) with only 5 (2.6%) men. The age of the patients of C1 varied from 20 to 73 (mean 38.4±12.3) years. The average duration of the disease by the moment of the patient's application for medical assistance was 8.5 years. The prevailing complaints were the sensation of heaviness and fatigue (61.6% and 60.2%). 44.0% of the patients complained of venous pain whereas in 71.% of them it occurred rarely and did not interfere with their everyday activity. The spectrum of subjective clinical signs and symptoms was not on the whole different from that in the patients of other clinical classes although the incidence of such manifestations as pain, sensation of oedema, seizures, and pruritis was significantly lower in the C1 patients. The means of basal therapy (compression and pharmacotherapy) were prescribed to 92.1% and 66.0% of the patients respectively. In the majority of the cases (90.5%), the treatment of choice was the administration of a purified micronized flavonoid fraction. Scleroobliteration was offered to 90.6% of the patients. The surgical intervention was proposed to the patients presenting with stem reflux. 22.1% of the patients seeking advice of a phlebologist proved to suffer isolated teleangiectasias and reticular varicosis. Almost half of the patients of C1 (44%) complained of venous pain. They were most frequently prescribed scleroobliteration, compression therapy, and medicamental treatment.
