Abstract:

Currently, there is a tendency to increase the number of patients with intestinal stomas, which leads to an increase in the incidence of parastomal hernias (PSH). Statistical data show that more than 50% of patients with a stoma develop PSH 2 years or more after radical surgery. Despite the existence of many surgical methods for treating PSH, there is no single algorithm for choosing the optimal surgical intervention in modern medical practice. This article is a presentation of the protocol of a randomized controlled study to compare the efficacy and safety of laparoscopic total extraperitoneal plastic surgery of parastomal hernias (endoscopic version of the Pauli procedure) compared with the traditional open Sugarbaker operation.
