One of the most common consequences for patients undergoing antibiotic therapy is a Clostridioides difficile infection. Generally, when conservative therapies are failing and the disease is progressing rapidly, surgery is recommended. However, mortality after urgent and emergency total or subtotal colectomy is very high. This clinical observation shows a 63-year-old patient who underwent an urgent colectomy for fulminant pseudomembranous colitis after receiving biologic therapy to treat severe COVID-19.
