Abstract:

According to the literature, the pathophysiology of placental adnation is associated with pathology of the uterine wall, caused in most cases by a scar after cesarean section. The increasing proportion of caesarean sections over the past 20 years has contributed to an increase in the number of observations of placenta accreta. Antenatally, using ultrasound, the diagnosis of placenta accreta is presumably made at a frequency of about 60%. During ultrasound diagnostics, the most important predictors of placenta accreta for close examination should be considered. In women with a scar after cesarean section, predictor of placenta accreta is implantation of a fetal egg in the scar region, identified in the first trimester; placenta previa and ultrasound criteria for the pathology of villus invasion — in the II and III trimesters. Magnetic resonance imaging does not replace, but complements the ultrasound data. Objective signs of placenta accreta, identified before act of delivery, make it possible to make the right decision on delivery and minimize complications in the mother and newborn.
