The review gives some historical stages in the development of assisted reproductive technologies and analyzes the results of recent researches dealing with obstetric problems in pregnant women after in vitro fertilization of both their and donor oocytes. The in vitro fertilization patients are mentioned to be assigned to a group at high risk for miscarriage, complicated pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Much attention is given to the specific features of the course of pregnancy, labor, and delivery in surrogate mothers. The authors declare no conflicts of interest.
