To evaluate the efficiency of surgical treatment in combination with local and systemic antiviral therapy in patients with severe cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), the treatment results were analyzed in 30 CIN II-III and cancer in situ (Ca in situ) patients (mean age 30.8±1.4 years) who had been found to have high cancer risk human papillomavirus. Electric conization of the cervix uteri was used as a surgical technique in all the patients. According to an antiviral therapy regimen, the patients were divided into 2 groups: 1) 16 patients who received only local antiviral therapy with panavir gel; 2) 14 patients who used both local (panavir gel treatment of the cervix uteri and vaginal walls) and systemic (intravenous panavir injection) antiviral therapy. Its results were assessed 6 months after initiation of combination therapy. The combination of surgical treatment and combined local and systemic antiviral therapy with panavir and panavir gel were ascertained to be an optimal modality to treat CIN II-III.
