There is a great need for specialists with high mobility potential, mainly economically active men due to the development of increasingly remote areas in the Arctic, Subarctic Regions and Siberia. Self-assessment of health associated with labour character in «rotation workers» with an increase in the length of service by expeditionary rotation system seems to be a reliable indicator for forming a comprehensive program of cardiovascular diseases prevention.
OBJECTIVE
To identify the labour character, its 35-year dynamics and associations with self-assessment of health in men working by expeditionary rotation system at an oil and gas producing complex in the Arctic Region.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The study object was two «random» representative samples, formed in the range of 35 years from males working by expeditionary rotation system in the Arctic latitudes of the Tyumen region. The service length by expeditionary rotation system in the Arctic conditions was assessed on three parameters: 1) 3 years of service or less; 2) 4—9 years of service; 3) 10 years of service or more. Determination of health self-assessment was carried out through an analysis of the WHO MONICA-MOPSY standard questionnaire.
RESULTS
A prior affiliation of surveyed workers to physical labour, with the lowest indicator among the young age group (25—34 years), has been identified. In the organized population aged 25—54 years, a decrease in health self-assessment has been found among non-manual personnel with the service length by expeditionary rotation system in the Arctic conditions for more than 3 years. In the 35-year period of dynamic observation, there has been a redistribution of physical and mental labour in the young age group (25—34 years) and in the population aged 25—54 years. Thus, a significant reduction in the proportion of physical labour among individuals working 3 years or less has been noted.
CONCLUSIONS
A model and mechanism for health management with the application of two-level evaluation and monitoring system for employees of oil and gas producing complex working by expeditionary rotation system, considering age, value, behavioral and stress parameters, length of service in the Arctic Region, will be developed based on the established patterns.
