Mental health prevention of the population is one of the important tasks of the modern healthcare system in RF.
OBJECTIVE
Prevention of population mental health is one of the important tasks of the modern healthcare system of the Russian Federation.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
Mental health was assessed using the Russian-language version of The Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HADS) which includes anxiety and depression scales. In the first stage a cross-sectional observational study was conducted among Internet users. At the second stage — a cross-sectional observational study with the participation of 600 patients who came to the next clinical examination at the 6 centers of the Republic of Tatarstan. The data obtained were processed statistically using parametric and nonparametric criteria.
RESULTS
According to the data of the Internet research stage it was revealed that the proportion of respondents with normal indicators on the scale of anxiety and depression was 56 and 87% among women, 42 and 68% among men. At the second stage of the study on the scale of anxiety the normal indicators were registered in 66% of patients, while 20% had subclinical and 13% had clinical signs of anxiety disorders. On the depression scale the normal values were noted in 58% of patients, subclinical indicators — in 27%, and clinical — in 14%. Anxiety and depression levels were not associated with the patient’s gender and education, while age and place of residence (urban, rural) had a significant effect. It has been shown that the risk of anxiety and depressive disorders increases with the age of the patient. The rural population compared with the urban population had a lower risk of developing anxiety (2.6 times) and depression (2.4 times).
CONCLUSION
The obtained facts substantiate the need for depressive and anxiety disorders’ screening at the stage of primary health care.
