Abstract:

The results of investigations that were conducted at the Center in 1996-2011 and that encompassed 730 twenty-four-hour blood pressure (BP) monitorings were analyzed in hypertensive patients. The purpose of the investigation was to assess an association between seasonal BP variations and quality-of-life (QL) indicators. Some components of QL were shown to affect seasonal BP variations. The higher QL indicators reflecting the social support of hypertensive patients decreased a seasonal variability in their BP: for systolic BP (SBP) during morning, evening, and night hours and throughout the working day and for diastolic BP during daytime and morning hours. The increased QL indicators characterizing the negative psychological state was accompanied by enhanced seasonal SBP variations only in the on-site period. The QL indicators were of no importance for seasonal variations in clinical BP.
