The emergence of the term “cardioobstetrics” in modern medical literature is associated with the high relevance of cardiovascular problems during pregnancy and postpartum, leading in many cases to maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity, as well as increased cardiovascular risk in later life. The authors of most reviews on cardioobstetrics try to cover all the problems in this field of medicine as completely as possible in one article, which makes the disclosure of specific issues incomplete. Our review provides, in our opinion, comprehensive information on applied issue of cardioobstetrics — the diagnosis of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The paper evaluates methodological approaches in this diagnosis based primarily on the analysis of modern Russian and foreign clinical recommendations, as well as other key literature data. In particular, the use of office and out-of-office methods for blood pressure measuring is considered. As a result of the analysis, clear and easy-to-understand flowcharts for diagnosing hypertensive disorders were proposed.
