The demographic situation in the world is characterized by a progressive decline in birth rates and a population decline. In this regard, a systemic approach aimed at improving women’s reproductive health. The modern trend is the 5P medicine: predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory and positive. This direction fully reflects the strategy of preventing abortions. The article discusses predictors of unplanned pregnancy, early and late complications of abortion, personalized approach strategy, and the need for motivated choice of contraceptive methods, the importance of comprehensive counseling to increase adherence to the chosen method, and additional preventive benefits of hormonal contraception. The article emphasizes that contraception is not about reducing birth rates but an effective prevention of abortions and a contribution to preserving women’s reproductive health.
