Preeclampsia is often called «the disease of theories» and the mystery of medicine. The frequency of preeclampsia has no tendency to decrease, and it still takes the leading position in the structure of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. The etiology, diagnosis and treatment of pre-eclampsia are discussed. The necessity of timely and coordinated measures to reduce the  morbidity and mortality from preeclampsia is emphasized.
