In 2021, the Crimea Republic (CR) ranked 3rd among the regions of the Southern Federal District in terms of breast cancer (BC) incidence. The analysis of epidemiological features of breast cancer in the Crimean region is a promising and relevant area that allows to optimize and improve the activities of oncological service.
OBJECTIVE
To analyze the morbidity and mortality rates of BC patients for 2014-2022 in Crimea, to assess the effectiveness of oncological care and regional peculiarities of statistical parameters of BC in comparison with all-Russian indicators.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
Statistical analysis was performed by extensive, intensive and standardized indicators. Prospective modeling of the dynamics of morbidity and mortality rates in patients with BC was performed using the least squares method with calculation of approximation coefficients.
RESULTS
Over the last 10 years, the morbidity and mortality rates of BC in CR have tended to increase, exceeding the national rates. A significant increase in the incidence of breast cancer begins in women as early as 45 years of age, but the maximum figures are observed in the 65-74 age group. During the analyzed period of time, unsatisfactory trends have been identified for the leading indicators of the oncological service: the proportion of patients detected at stages I—II and III—IV, active detection of BC. Additional detail and analysis of the work of the oncological service of the CR requires indicators of the prevalence of BC, mortality up to one year after diagnosis.
CONCLUSION
There are a number of negative trends in the performance of the CR oncology service that require further research and analysis.
