Abstract
OBJECTIVE
To describe a novel method of monsplasty and to evaluate its functional outcomes, including impact on quality of life and dynamics of stress urinary incontinence symptoms.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study included 28 female patients (2018–2024) with indications for monsplasty. Inclusion criteria: satisfactory overall status, no contraindications, and follow-up period ≥12 months. Mean age was 41.2±6.8 years, body mass index — 27.4±3.6 kg/m². We assessed the outcomes using validated questionnaires: BODY-Q (Satisfaction with Abdomen) and ICIQ-SF. Assessments were performed preoperatively, after 1 and 12 months.
RESULTS
Preoperative BODY-Q scores were low (mean 32.5±8.7). After 1 month, these scores significantly improved (78.6±9.4; p<0.001) and remained stable after 12 months (76.8±10.1; p>0.05). An exception was noted in abdominal tone, where moderate decline was observed after 12 months (p<0.05). According to ICIQ-SF scale, 39.3% of patients had moderate preoperative urinary incontinence. After surgery, this value decreased to 21.4% and remained stable after 12 months (p<0.05). No significant changes were observed in the mild incontinence group.
CONCLUSION
Original monsplasty technique provides stable improvement of abdominal aesthetic parameters and reduction of stress urinary incontinence symptoms with stable outcomes in 12 months after surgery.
