OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the effectiveness of Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) block as a part of multimodal perioperative analgesia in abdominoplasty.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

A prospective controlled study included 20 female patients aged 30–38 years who underwent abdominoplasty under general anesthesia. Patients were divided into two groups: group 1 (n=10) received only general anesthesia, while group 2 (n=10) received general anesthesia combined with TAP block using 0.5% ropivacaine. Pain intensity was assessed using VAS scale after 1, 6, 12, and 24 postoperative hours. Consumption of opioids, time to first mobilization, and hospital stay were analyzed.

RESULTS

TAP block showed significantly lower (p<0.0001) postoperative pain (VAS score≤4), reduced need for tramadol, earlier mobilization (within 1 hour), and shorter hospital stay.

CONCLUSION

TAP block in perioperative analgesia for abdominoplasty enhances pain control, reduces opioid requirements, and promotes early rehabilitation (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery — ERAS).
