Abstract:

Papillary thyroid cancer is a heterogeneous group of tumors that show a noticeable variety of macroscopic and histological structures. Some subtypes of papillary thyroid carcinoma are recognized and classified by the World Health Organization as aggressive variants, including tall cell carcinoma, columnar cell variant, as well as solid carcinoma variant. Tall cell papillary thyroid cancer is the most common aggressive variant of papillary thyroid cancer. The columnar cell variant (columnar cell) of papillary thyroid carcinoma behaves aggressively when the tumor is large, demonstrates diffuse-infiltrative growth and extracapsular distribution. Encapsulated small tumor nodes have an indolent course. Solid/trabecular variants of papillary thyroid cancer differ from undifferentiated thyroid carcinoma by the characteristic nuclear signs of thyroid papillary carcinoma.
