Abstract:

The paper considers the capabilities of endovascular procedures in the neoadjuvant treatment of breast cancer. Intra-arterial polychemotherapy is compared with the systemic administration of cytostatics. It is shown that intra-arterial polychemotherapy may be successfully used as part of combination treatment for locally advanced, primary inoperable breast cancer and when planning organ-sparing surgery for its early stage. The superiority of the method over systemic (intravenous) administration consists in the selective concentration of a chemotherapeutic agent in the locoregional tumor location area and in higher local clinical effect as compared to the conventional intravenous administration of chemotherapeutic agents.
