Abstract:

The paper presents the basic strategic documents of the WHO and the Russian Federation on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, which have been worked out in the 21st century. It considers the behavioral and metabolic risk factors of noncommunicable diseases, their role in the development of malignancies, and their prevalence among the population of the Russian Federation, the European Region, and the world as a whole. It is shown that to enhance preventive national health care, there is a need in the near future to develop a unified long-term strategy for the formation of healthy lifestyle in the population, the prevention and control of noncommuncable diseases and to work out a national plan for their control.
