Abstract:

Objective — to analyze the results of electrochemical lysis in the treatment of patients with prostate cancer who have contraindications to radical treatment. Subject and methods. The investigation enrolled 24 patients who had undergone 3 to 5 electrochemical lysis sessions. Results. Three months after the last treatment session, there was a decline in the mean serum level of prostate specific antigen from 12.75 to 5.4 ng/ml (p<0.05) in the study patient group. The urination quality confirmed by instrumental studies and the data of the IPSS and Qol questionnaires was noted to improve. Conclusion. The experience in using noninvasive electrochemical lysis to treat patients with prostate cancer has shown encouraging results, which serves as a prerequisite for a further investigation of its efficiency and for a search for new points of application in comparative studies in a large sample of patients.
