The authors evaluated the impact of intrauterine administration of levonorgestrel (52 mg) and subcutaneous injection of a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (zoladex depot 3.6 mg) in the treatment of women younger than 40 years with atypical hyperplasia and early Stage Ia endometrial cancer who had not previously realized their reproductive function. Primary treatment was completed in 70 (57.8%) women, 39 (32.2%) during hormone self-therapy. The hormonal drugs were administered within 6 months. The follow-up lasted 1 to 38 months (median 14 months). The patients' mean age was 33 years. Therapeutic effectiveness was 82.8%. Recurrences were stated in 3 (4.2%) cases; disease non-cure was seen in 9 (12.8%) cases. Reproductive function was realized in 8 (11.4%) women.
