Skin xerosis is a common problem in childhood, which dictates the need for permanent use of basic care. Objective. The study was aimed at evaluating clinical efficacy and safety of an emollient composition in children with mild skin xerosis. Materials and methods. The study included 33 children aged 2 to 6 years with mild xeroderma in combinations with allergic and atopic conditions. The emollient was applied on the skin as a basic agent once a day for 4 weeks. Results. The use of emollient as a basic skin care for children suffering from xerosis resulted in significant increase in the moisture content in the skin of the cheeks — from “very dry” to “dry” and limbs — from “dry” to “sufficiently moisturized”. The level of erythema of the cheeks decreased by 66.5%. Satisfaction from the use of the product was 97%, allergic reactions were detected in 6% of cases. Conclusion. Emollients were effective and safe for dry skin correction and can be recommended as a basic skin care for children with xerosis and systemic sensitization.
