Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of therapy for foot and hand onychomycosis using a BioPokrov Mikoz lacquer and a BioPokrov gel. Material and methods. A prospective clinical study (2012—2013). Results. The study included 76 patients: 32 (42%) males and 44 (58%) females aged 22 to 75 years, with the onychomycosis duration of 3 to 25 years. 60 (78%) patients had a mycotic lesion of the toenails, 16 (21%) patients had a mycotic lesion of the hands, and 6 (8%) patients were detected with onychomycosis both in the hands and in the feet. The patients received topical treatment with the BioPokrov Mikoz antifungal lacquer for the first 9 months, followed by application of the BioPokrov Mikoz lacker in combination with the BioPokrov gel for 3 months. The 9 month treatment with the BioPokrov Mikoz lacker resulted in clinical improvement in 98% of the patients with onychomycosis, and complete recovery was observed in 35% of the patients. 82% of patients who used the gel and lacker demonstrated a persistent stabilization of the condition of all nails that was achieved due to long-term treatment with the BioPokrov Mikoz lacker. Conclusions. The BioPokrov Mikoz lacker and the BioPokrov gel demonstrated a high efficacy and good tolerability in patients with onychomycosis.
