Abstract:

Fundamentally new topical agents with selective immunosuppressive activity (calcineurin inhibitors) are currently becoming an alternative to corticosteroids. These drugs are free of steroid-dependent side effects and exhibit an anti-inflammatory effect in immune-mediated dermatoses. They are increasingly widely used in dermatology. This review presents data on application of topical agent tacrolimus in treatment of patients with psoriasis, seborrheic and contact dermatitis, chronic hand eczema, rosacea (including the steroid-induced form) localized scleroderma, lichen sclerosus affecting the genitals, and vitiligo. The experience of tacrolimus administration in these nosologies demonstrated high drug efficacy (levels of evidence A and B) and safety. Information on the use of the drug to treat other dermatoses was provided when efficacy corresponded to the level of evidence C.
