Abstract:

The aim of the study was estimation of prognostic factors for successful cardioversion and recurrent symptomatic paroxysms of atrial fibrillation (AF) during 6 months after electric cardioversion in patient wit persistent AF. 121 patients with persistent or new onset non-valvular AF were included in the study. Sinus rhythm was restored in 103 (85.1%) patients, in 18 (14.9%) patients cardioversion was not effective. During 6 months after cardioversion documentary confirmed relapse of AF was observed in 21 (20.4%) patients. Sinus rhythm maintained in 82 (79.6%) patients. It is ascertained that ineffective cardioversion is associated with recurrent AF in anamnesis and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is shown that diabetes mellitus, combination of arterial hypertension and chronic heart failure, anxiety-depressive disorders, reduced quality of life and left ventricular contractility malfunction are the risk factors for symptomatic relapses of AF after cardioversion.
