Cardiovascular complications are still the leading cause of mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, early diagnosis of heart and vascular lesions is important in these patients. The authors describe diagnostic capabilities of perfusion stress cardiac MRI with sodium adenosine triphosphate in detecting myocardial ischemia caused by a combination of coronary artery disease and microvascular dysfunction.
