Aim — to study the amount of D-dimer, cholesterol and immunoglobulins (Ig) A, G, M in varicose veins. Material and method. There were 37 patients aged 36—60 years with varicose veins of lower extremities CEAP C2—C6. Diagnosis was confirmed by Doppler ultrasound scanning and functional tests. All patients were divided into 4 groups: CEAP C2 (n=9), C3 (n=10), C4 (n=9), C5—C6 (n=9). All patients underwent elective phlebectomy. Varicose vein specimens were obtained from the middle third of the thigh. Level of cholesterol was determined by using of spectrophotometry. Enzyme immunoassay was applied for D-dimer, IgA, IgG and IgM. Results. According to D-dimer levels, the most active fibrinolysis system was observed in patients with CVD CEAP C4—C6. It was also accompanied by increased content of IgA and IgG. Significant changes of cholesterol level were noted for CVD CEAP C3 and C4. Conclusion. Varicose veins are accompanied by inflammatory processes in venous wall. D-dimer is a marker of not only thrombosis, but also inflammation in venous wall.
