Abstract:

The endovenous methods for the treatment of primary varicose veins are extensively applied in modern phlebology due to their high effectiveness, technical simplicity, the possibility of application in the outpatient conditions, and good cosmetic results. At the same time, their application is known to sometimes result in complications, such as subcutaneous hemorrhage, paresthesia, and venous thrombosis. Also, there are rare reports in the literature on the complications for technical reasons associated with fragmentation of accessories for venous catheterization and lightguides. The present paper describes a case of a laser lightguide destruction in the preostial portion of great saphenous vein.
