Abstract:

Duodenal hemangioma is a rare benign disease, which can be asymptomatic and also cause various complications. The article presents a clinical case of diagnosis and treatment of duodenal hemangioma in a 34-year-old patient. Upper GI examination revealed a submucosal tumor up to 3 cm in diameter, located on the lateral wall of the descending part of the duodenum proximal to the level of the major duodenal papilla. A fine-needle puncture with aspiration biopsy was performed. According to cytological examination, there were not any elements of malignancy. Clinical case was discussed with multidisciplinary team and patient was underwent laparoscopic partial duodenectomy. Histological investigation showed cavernous hemangioma. The postoperative period proceeded without complications. Asymptomatic duodenal hemangioma should be differentiate to the other types of GI tumors that require more active surgical intervention. Minimally invasive duodenum preserving procedure is preferable.
