Abstract:

Cohort study results of treatment of 367 patients with acute appendicitis have been analysed: 151 after laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) with appendiceal stump clipping and 216 patients after laparoscopically assisted appendectomy (LAA) through mini-access. Mean operation length for LA comprised 52±5 min, for LAA - 40±8 min. Duration of postoperative period was 6±2.3 days after LA, 5.5±1.6 days after LAA. Laparoscopic appendectomy is preferable due to absence of wound complications, which were revealed in 5% (n=11) of patients after LAA. Intraabdominal complications were marked more often after laparoscopic appendectomy - 3.9% (n=6). In 1.3% (n=2) of cases relaparoscopy was performed after LA. Appendiceal stump incompetence took place in 1.3% (n=2) of cases, that required repeated operations.
