In recent decades, there has been a trend towards a decrease in the number of people suffering from sepsis, and mortality rates are also declining, reflecting the close attention of doctors of various specialties to this problem. However, sepsis/septic shock mortality rate varies between 25—35% depending on the level of health development in individual countries and regions. The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) anesthesiologists have the leading role in the sepsis and septic shock clinical management. Treatment of patients with sepsis is based on domestic and international clinical guidelines. Treatment of patients in critical conditions with multiple organ failure, which include patients with sepsis, involves a complex of monitoring patient’s vital functions and intensive care including proper nutritional status correction. Insufficient attention to nutritionsl support is one of the 10 most common errors in the ICU patient management. However, clinicians do not always focus their efforts on this part of treatment. In order to study nutritional support tatus “state of the art” and methods of its correction in patients with sepsis and septic shock, an analysis of publications in medical databases e-Library, PubMed, Medline (2004—2023) was carried out. Based on the data obtained, a modern concept of nutritional support for patients with sepsis and septic shock in intensive care is presented.
