The review summarizes data on anesthetic approaches in assisted reproductive technologies for the period 2011—2021. The authors analyzed predominantly randomized national and foreign clinical trials devoted to anesthetic management of transvaginal oocyte retrieval. Peculiarities of general anesthesia, including intravenous and inhalational anesthetics, conscious sedation with propofol and short-acting opioids and regional anesthesia including neuraxial anesthesia and paracervical blockade were analyzed. We compared various anesthetic approaches regarding certain parameters: procedure time, recovery time, intensity of postoperative pain, patient satisfaction, side effects and influence on in vitro fertilization results. Data on alternative anesthetic methods in assisted reproductive technologies are given.
