Abstract:

Pregnancy complications, such as various thrombotic microangiopathies (TMA), are characterized by fast development of severe symptoms followed by multiple organ failure. This process is life-threatening for mother and fetus. In this regard, timely therapy is the most urgent issue. Treatment strategy is complicated by difficult differential diagnosis of the TMA type. We report atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome associated with pregnancy, discuss the recommended treatment regimens and importance of timely plasma exchange to achieve favorable outcome. Urgent plasma exchange is a first-line method for any type of thrombotic microangiopathy.
