Ureteral stenting in pregnant women with urolithiasis or obstructive uropathy of other etiologies is an endoscopic operation, which can be accompanied by rapid stone formation in the stent and development of infectious urological or obstetric complications. To prevent such complications in pregnant women with urolithiasis and to treat them successfully, the indication for the type of kidney and upper urinary tract drainage should be strictly established and regular follow-up ultrasound examinations should be repeated to clarify the condition and position of the drainage — stent or nephrostomy tube — installed. Pregravidal preparation of patients with urolithiasis should include planned surgical treatment (if necessary), timely removal of existing drainage systems in remission of chronic pyelonephritis. Compliance with the principles of management of pregnant women with urolithiasis must be based on careful analysis of the clinical course of the disease and multidisciplinary interaction of a urologist, an obstetrician-gynecologist, an anesthesiologist, a nephrologist, and a clinical pharmacologist.
