A review of the literature on the problem of recurrent miscarriage in the II and III trimesters is presented. One of the leading causes of late termination of pregnancy is cervical weakness, in connection with which the study of this problem is still relevant. According to modern research, ultrasonic cervicometry does not allow to reliably predict the likelihood of the formation of cervical weakness and assess the risk of miscarriage, which necessitates a further search for methods of examining pregnant women. The determination of specific biochemical markers (cytokines, metalloproteinases) in order to predict the risk of abortion is a promising area of research and requires a more detailed study.
